Since 2017 Atelier Luma has been researching and exploring the physical attributes of Camargue salt.
Camargue salt is traditionally used for agricultural food and Atelier Luma has proved it can be utilized in new fields, such as design and architecture. The new range of tiles are grown from rectangular frames that are submerged in salt marshes for several days. The frames are then moulded, pressed and heated to create three-dimensional prototypes.
The research into Camargue salt views a renewable resource from an innovate lenses. The crystallization plant is also exploring salt for energy production and light diffusion.
