Claybens is a ceramic brick product that utilises contaminated PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) clay soil as its key ingredient. PFAS, commonly referred to as “forever chemicals” are chemicals that that do not break down in the environment. These chemicals have commonly been used in the manufacturing of various household items and have slowly leaked into soil and waterways. Claybens have developed a technique to fire PFAS contaminated soil into bricks, eliminating the chemicals in the process.
