ExCinere is a collection of volcanic ash-glazed tiles developed by Dzek, Studio Formafantasma and a team of scientists and volcanologists. Volcanic Ash is a naturally occurring product that is expelled from the earth without any human intervention. Volcanic ash and basalt rock have high metal oxide content which makes them complex and unpredictable to work with. The team took three years of research to discover the perfect balance of porcelain, ash glazes and firing techniques.
