Olive Woodchip

‘Olive Woodchip’ by Francesca Daloiso is a collection of panels constructed of Olive Trees that have been infected by the notorious Xylella Fastidiosa plant.  Xylella Fastidiosa is one of the most dangerous plant-pathogenic bacteria worldwide and in order to stop it spreading, the EU and Italian Commission implemented regulations to eradicate any infected trees, leaving a large-scale wood chip waste pile. Daloiso collected, and cleaned the woodchips to remove any bacteria. The woodchips were then bound together as panels that can be used for furniture, wall coverings and more.
