DR Horton, one of Americas largest homebuilders has begun using Studio Plantd panels made from compressed perennial grasses in replacement of traditional oriented strand board (OSB) and plywood. The cofounders are pushing for more sustainable building methods that are no longer heavily reliant on cutting down trees. According to DR Horton, “each grass panel stores approximately 70 per cent of carbon dioxide captured from the farm”. Plantd grows and harvests its own grass products and uses its own machines that are planned to move to all-electric in the next few years.
