RR201 recycled polystyrene stools are part of a series commissioned by El Celler de Can Roca (one of the worlds best restaurants) to reduce waste through experimental design. Each stool is constructed of 6 polystyrene boxes that have been used by the restaurant during service.
The polystyrene boxes are washed down before being shredded into raw material and compacted into a mold. An eco-friendly coating is then added to make the stools water-tight and suitable for outdoor use.
The result is a highly durable, lightweight stool that weighs less than 2kg. Adding to the charm is that each stool varies in surface texture, meaning no two stools are exactly the same.
